Sectoral-regional Cluster and the „New Economic Geography“ – An Empirical Test of main hypotheses for Germany

This project aims to analyse the meaningfulness of the New Economic Geography concerning the static and dynamic spatial distribution of German industry.

Field research in selected industries tends to determine the variables employed by the models of the New Economic Geography. These variables ensure the practicability of a computer-aided simulation. The findings of the simulation can then be compared with the actual sectoral spatial clustering of German industry.
