The Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography has successfully acquired two new projects in this year's Pro Niedersachsen call with a total volume of € 650,000. Prof. Dr. Kerstin Nolte and Dr. Leonie Tuitjer investigate in their project "Consumption of sustainable food in the context of crises: Climate Change and the Covid 19 Pandemic in Lower Saxony" which role current crises play on the sustainable food consumption. Within the project, they will collect own data in two urban-rural case study regions in Lower Saxony, respectively in urban (Lüneburg, Osnabrück) and in rural regions (district of Lüchow Dannenberg and district of Emsland). The project will start on the first of November 2022.

Dr. Kerstin Schaefer is leading the project "Intelligent Labor Market? Impact of AI Transformation on Occupations, Sectors and Regions", in which the labor market transformation through the use of artificial intelligence will be researched in collaboration with Dr. Gábor Kismihók, head of the Learning and Skill Analytics Group at LUH, and Dr. Anne Otto, Institute for Employment Research. The project starts on the first of January 2023.
