In September, the Regional Studies Association (RSA) presented awards for outstanding contributions to research in the field of regional studies. During this event, Sebastian Losacker was awarded the Paul Benneworth PhD Student Award for his article „Regional Lead Markets for Environmental Innovation“. In this article, Sebastian Losacker, together with Ingo Liefner, presents the concept of Regional Lead Markets illustrated by the example of sustainable waste management technologies in Shanghai. The concept combines insights from research on innovation diffusion and the geography of sustainability transitions, emphasizing the relevance of regional factors in this respect.
