Under the theme "Rural Geographies in Transition", the third European Rural Geographies Conference took place in Groningen from June 26 to 29, 2023. In addition to a wide range of topics such as political movements, measures for climate change adaptation and energy transitions in rural areas, digital transformations in rural areas were also presented in numerous presentations. Under the title "Rural companies and the development of digital solutions: Rural digital transformations on their way?", Lukas Häfner also presented results of a company survey in rural areas, which deals with the development of digital competences in rural companies. The next European Rural Geographies Conference is scheduled to take place in Porto in June 2026.
