Kerstin J. Schaefer presented her research at the iBEGIN conference at Fox School of Business, Temple University in Philadelphia on the 26th and 27th of October. The iBEGIN format aims to bring together scholars from International Business, Economic Geography and Innovation. The presentation by Kerstin J. Schaefer "Beyond learning-by-hiring - the role of offshore experts in latecomer catch-up" explained the role of local experts for offshore greenfield investments for the catch-up process of emerging market firms. She showed that the experts' skills as well as their local embeddedness accelerated the catch-up process of the case study company Huawei Technologies. Moreover, she emphasized the importance of technical standards for establishing in the global telecommunication industry.
