Louis Knuepling recently joined the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography as a new research fellow. He studied geography (bachelor) and economic geography (master) at the Leibniz University Hanover and spent one semester at the Université Grenoble Alpes in France. In his PhD thesis he analyses the relatedness of technologies and deals with the empirical distinction of radical from incremental innovation in a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. His interest in evolutionary economic geography and quantitative empirical methods was already visible in his master thesis about the Relatedness of Sports and its Relation to the Success of Nations at the Olympic Games.
