New publication: The role of climate change awareness for trust in institutions in sub-Saharan Africa

With the purpose of closing the research gap on systematic investigation of the relationship between climate change awareness, conflict, and trust in institutions in Africa, Kerstin Nolte, Leonie Tuitjer, Lars Mewes, and Peter Dirksmeier have jointly presented a study that analyses trust in institutions as dependent variable based on a multilevel regression analysis. The results show that trust in institutions in sub-Saharan Africa is influenced by both individual climate change awareness and the context of violence. Half of the team of authors are economic geographers and half are cultural and social geographers who work together on climate change issues at the Institute.
