GEM Country Report Germany 2022/23

On 30 June 2023, the new country report on Germany of the Global Entrepreneurship (GEM) is published - and comes up with a result that is as positive as it is surprising: the TEA new businesses rate in 2022 was 9.1% in the 18-64-year-old population, the highest since the GEM was introduced in 1999. This finding is interpreted in the report, as is the classification of the German results in the context of the 49 countries participating in the GEM in the reference year 2022. The thematic focus of this report is on new businesses started by migrants, a group of actors that has become increasingly important in recent years, not only in Germany. The authors of this country report of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the world's largest research consortium on the topic of new businesses, are Rolf Sternberg (Team Leader GEM-Germany) and Lennard Stolz on the part of our Institute and Florian Täube, Matthias Wallisch, Julia Schauer, Natalia Gorynia-Pfeffer and Armin Baharian at the cooperation partner RKW Competence Centre (Eschborn).
