On April 24, 2024, the 19th Lower Saxony Foreign Trade Day “International Market Access - Opportunities for SMEs” took place alongside the Hannover Messe. The event was attended by high-ranking representatives from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Building and Digitalization as well as numerous SMEs and large companies from Lower Saxony that are actively engaged in the export business, along with Ingo Liefner, Julian Barnikol and Leon Worbs from the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography. With a custom-made poster on the topic of “Advanced Frugal Innovation”, the Institute delegation made contact with a handful of companies and institutions and was thus able to inform about the concept of our highly appreciated Indian colleague and pioneer in this area of innovation, Balkrishna C. Rao from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers once again for the opportunity to be part of the event and hope to use it to further spread the idea of sustainable, socially affordable and high-quality frugal innovations among (export-oriented) companies in Lower Saxony.
