Louis Knüpling from the Institute for Economic and Cultural Geography (IWKG) presented on "Complementarity, Knowledge Similarity, and Locational Relatedness in Regional Technological Diversification" at the Seminars in Economic Geography (SEG) Winter Workshop in Geography of Innovation. He presented how improved indicators can be used to empirically distinguish between different reasons for the spatial diffusion of technologies in order to provide more precise recommendations for regional economic policy. The presentation was the prelude to the workshop, which took place from 27-28 January and was well attended by around 60 people. The workshop offered an opportunity for young researchers who had planned to present their research at the "Geography of Innovation" conference in Milan, which is popular among economic geographers and had to be postponed to the summer due to corona. The workshop was organised by Kerstin J. Schäfer (LSE & IWKG), Carolin Ioramashvili (Birmingham Business School & LSE) and Christopher Esposito (University of Chicago) as a special format of the otherwise monthly SEG. Over the two days, there were a total of six presentations covering a wide range of topics in innovation geography.

To register for the SEG, which will take place regularly from February.
