New scientific presentation: Chinese cross-border acquisitions in developed economies: The impact on the business-to-business customer and supplier relationships of the acquired enterprise

Ingo Liefner and Timon Haasis participated in the “Sino-German Research Network of Management Sciences Conference“, which took place from 19th to 22nd of March 2018 in Bayreuth, Germany.

As part of the research project “Chinese Multinational Enterprises in Germany: Institutional Distance, Local Networks and Knowledge Exchange”, they presented the findings of the research article “Chinese cross-border acquisitions in developed economies: The impact on the business-to-business customer and supplier relationships of the acquired enterprise“.

The research results demonstrate that the Chinese parent companies are usually able to maintain the existing business-to-business customer and supplier networks of acquired German entities. Explanatory factors are a rather cautious integration strategy, the long-term orientation of the Chinese investors and the early involvement of key customers during the acquisition process.
