Since 2006, the ZitArt project of the Institute for Economic and Cultural Geography has been ranking economic geographers in Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and Germany according to various publication and citation indicators and with respect to specific key date. The new, now sixth edition of ZitArt will be published end of March 2021. For the first time, the "Scopus" database is used, which greatly increased the number of publications and authors (now 183) taken into account. In total, ZitArt2020 is based on 2,480 publications and 37,588 associated citations as of 1.8.2020. For the first time, books and book contributions are considered as well, accounting for about 15% of the publications. ZitArt2020 generally lists the top 25 of the respective measure and offers three personal rankings by publications, five personal rankings by citations, one personal ranking by the h-index and one article ranking by citations.

The total of ten rankings of ZitArt2020, together with the rankings of ZitArt2006, ZitArt2008, ZitArt2010, ZitArt2013, and ZitArt2016, are freely accessible exclusively on the website of the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography. As usual in ZitArt, the methodological foundations of ZitArt are explained in detail in a separate text. Reading this text is essential for understanding the rankings. In addition, each of the ten ranking tables is briefly interpreted. A summary of ZitArt2020 (published in parallel in issue 289 of the VGDH “Rundbrief”, with some additional illustrations) complement the materials on ZitArt2020 on the Institute''s website.

Please use only the file versions uploaded on March 29, 2021 (as of 3/28/2021) for the three person-based rankings and for the introduction text and methodology text.
