A particularly topical subject and three highly motivated guests shaped the latest WiGeoH-Salon on 3 December 2024 at our institute. The highly competitive and very dynamic food retail sector in Germany is characterised by equally dynamic property development. Economic geography graduates trained in Hanover are well qualified for this professional field, as the guests at this event organised by our alumni association, Svenja Schäfer (Lidl), Steven Verissimo (Rewe) and Patrick Becker (Kaufland), impressively explained. The presentation of this professional field was met with great interest by the numerous students from the Bachelor's degree programme in Geography and the Master's degree programme in Economic Geography, as well as by several alumni from the retail sector. The event, which was expertly moderated by WiGeoH board member Fabian Jung (who himself works in property management in the food retail sector), can be considered a complete success, not only because it was appropriately continued afterwards in an appropriate Nordstadt pub. Our thanks go to students and alumni for the great dialogue and, of course, especially to our three guests for their dedicated performance.
