Successful PhD Defense at the Institute: Samuel Zewdie Hagos

On March 3, 2025, Samuel Zewdie Hagos successfully defended his dissertation titled „Scratching Beneath the Surface: Refugees’ Lived Experiences in Ethiopia“ at the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography. Samuel was an external PhD student at the IWKG and works as a resercher at the Migration Department at the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM).

The defense was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ingo Liefner, and the examination committee included his supervisor Prof. Dr. Kerstin Nolte, Dr. Zeynep Yanasmayan (DeZIM), and Prof. Dr. Nadja Kabisch.
