What role do young (and therefore small) companies play in the ecological transformation in Germany in general and the circular economy in particular? The founder of The Knot Group or of Phenogy, John Toft, explored this question at the invitation of the WiGeoH alumni association of economic geography in Hanover, which hosted the third ‘WiGeoH Evening in the Stables’ in the magnificent LUH event centre of the same name in mid-May. Almost 70 alumni, students and interested parties from outside the field of economic geography accepted the invitation. They watched and listened to an entertaining and practice-orientated presentation by John Toft. WiGeoH e.V. is very proud that this renowned and unconventional founding personality accepted the invitation to speak, and the good contacts of Dr Olaf Arndt (WiGeoH board member and head of Prognos AG in Bremen) to the guest were certainly helpful. After the more than inspiring presentation on the practice and challenges of the circular economy, many event participants made intensive use of the opportunity to engage in bilateral discussions with John Toft on open questions. Good food and cool drinks helped to ensure that the evening was a memorable one for everyone. The WiGeoH Board would like to thank John Toft and all participants for their contribution to the success of this event.
