Nominated by the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Lennart Grün was honoured with the "Prize of the Presidential Board" of Leibniz University for his outstanding bachelor thesis in the field of economic geography. In his thesis he examined the resilience capacities of German regions in the aftermath of the Great Recession of 2008/09, measuring resilience capacity by focusing on the sectoral specialisation of the spatial planning regions. Despite the relatively large impact of the global economic crisis, Lennart Grün concludes that the degree of specialisation of German regions has hardly changed between 2007 and 2017.
The award was presented at a ceremony in the "Königlicher Pferdestall" and all winners were delighted to receive a prize of 250€.
