The German country team of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the largest and oldest research consortium on entrepreneurship worldwide, has been in existence for a quarter of a century (link to gemconsortium.org ). Since the start of the GEM, the German GEM team has been led by economic geographers who now work at our institute. The previous head (Prof. Rolf Sternberg, LUH) and the two new heads of the German GEM team (Prof. Christian Hundt, LUH and Thünen Institute of Rural Economics, Brunswick, and Dr Florian Täube, RKW Competence Centre, Eschborn) took this anniversary as an opportunity to review the rich history of the German country team in a podcast, which appeared in the ‘Gründungsupdate’ series of the RKW Competence Centre.
The picture above shows (from left to right) Prof Christian Hundt, Prof Rolf Sternberg and Stephan Pohl from our institute, who has developed all the illustrations for the previous country reports over 25 years. The GEM abbreviation is formed from the covers of all 24 German country reports since 1999.
