Rune Dahl Fitjar, Professor of Innovation Studies at the University of Stavanger (Norway), was a guest of the Institute from June 23 to 27 as part of the 49th International Seminar in Economic Geography (ISEG). The topic of this semester's ISEG was “Innovation in Core and Peripheral Regions”. Based on his numerous publications on this topic, Rune Dahl Fitjar spoke about the spatiality of innovation in general, the comparative strengths and weaknesses of peripheral regions, the importance of different innovation modes and the chances of success of innovation policy strategies. The Institute would like to take this opportunity to thank the 22 participating students from the Master's degree program in "Economic Geography" and from Economics, as well as Rune Dahl Fitjar for his five inspiring lectures and his thoughts on this current topic.
