From the 25th till 27th of January Leonie Tuitjer participated at the 15th proceedings of the „New Cultural Geography“ conference. This year’s conference theme „Matter, Materiality, Methods“ brought together a large number of social and cultural geographers to discuss the discipline’s latest developments (e.g. „New Materialism“ literature). The conference was hosted by the University of Freiburg.
Leonie Tuitjer’s paper „Climate change and displacement in Bangkok – An assemblage approach“ introduced elements of the theoretical framework of her PhD dissertation. In her presentation she explored how an assemblage approach can be made useful to explore agency and materiality in urban human-environment relations.
