Deep socio-economic transformation processes, such as the transformation of regions and industries towards climate neutrality, require the development and use of suitable ecological innovations. There are currently no universally applicable procedures for the creation of these innovations and for the conscious political support of their creation and application. It is therefore worth analyzing the transformation processes and innovation policies of other countries and regions in order to understand how transformation processes take place elsewhere and how politics can intervene to promote them. Two publications, written by Chris Brück, Ingo Liefner, Sebastian Losacker and Gang Zeng, discuss these questions based on regional research in China and an analysis of Chinese policy instruments.
