Aviation’s climate impact is significant, and the sector’s path to sustainability is unclear, with different stakeholders having diverse imaginations of the sector’s future. Together with Ingo Liefner, Lennart Grün, and Sebastian Losacker, we delve into the challenges of the sustainability transition in aviation and explore how different stakeholders envision a more sustainable future for the sector. In doing so, we uncover three key socio-technical imaginaries of climate-neutral aviation and identify four research themes that arise in this context. The article has been published in the journal Energy Research and Social Sciences and is freely accessible.
