Anna-Barbara Heindl engages in research on social infrastructure and their influence on neighbourhood attachment. For her presentation "Neighbourhood Attachment in Social Milieus and the Role of Social Infrastructure – Case: Germany" at the RC21 Conference on Urban and Regional Development in Vienna on 20 July 2026, she analysed data from the representative FGZ survey "Social Cohesion Panel". Barbara asked, whether different milieus experience neighbourhood attachment in a siginificantly different way and if so, if satisfaction with social infrastructure can contribute to explaining a more positive neighbourhood attachment. Background to this is the idea that next to socio-economic status cultural attitudes play a role for the use and satisfaction with social infrastructure - as in current research, social infrastructures are understood as places fostering neighbourhood attachment.
