The G20 recognizes the need for more responsible land investments. Yet opaque land deals remain a major problem. In the Think Tank 20 Policy Brief series, Insa Flachsbarth, Jann Lay, Kerstin Nolte, Angela Harding, Jeremy Bourgoin and Ward Anseeuw call on the G20 to take responsibility. Specifically, they recommend mandatory due diligence in global supply chains. As an important, quicker, and more feasible step, the G20 states should support transparency initiatives, make contracts publicly available and encourage companies to publish information.  Such open data can be used to hold investors accountable.
