Dr. Kerstin Schaefer was invited as a panellist at the "Pedagogies of Regional and Urban Studies" panel during the Regional Studies Winter Conference 2024. She shared insights as a PhD supervisor on training PhD students as the next generation of Regional Studies Association (RSA) scholars and discussed the challenges supervisors face in delivering high-quality training. Dr. Schaefer emphasized the importance of PhD students’ exposure to research communities, the acquisition of implicit academic skills, and the recognition of diverse needs among doctoral candidates. The panel also featured presentations from Dan Whittall of The Geographical Association and Michiel van Meeteren from Utrecht University, under the chairmanship of Stefania Fiorentina from the University of Cambridge.
