Hanover's Economic Geography Alumni Reunion 2019: intense networking and several innovations

It was early February 2019 when Hanover''s Economic Geographjy Alumni met for their 12th Reunion over the last 20 years. The inviting Alumni organization "Verein zur Förderung der Wirtschaftsgeographie in Hannover" (WiGeoH) welcomed more than 130 guests to the prestigious building of "Region Hannover". WiGeoH is very grateful to Head of the Department Economic and Employment Support of the "Region Hannover", Alexander Skubowius, for his strong engagement in favour of this extremely successful event.

The two hours programme included obligatory information about news from the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography, but also several innovations presented by WiGeoH board members. One of the highlights was the granting of honorary membership in favour of em. Prof. Dr. Ludwig Schätzl, who was responsible for the rise of economic geography at the University of Hannover after he was appointed Professor of Economic Geography more than 40 years ago. For the first time the top five alumni of the Master programme in Economic Geographe were awarded (reference years 2017 and 2018). Another premiere was an internet-based poll regarding the work of WiGeoH, applying the Kahoot software and providing a smooth transfer to the convival part of the evening.
