Economic Geography Hannover featured on GCEG with 4 presentations

Four Economic Geographers from Hannover presented at the fifth Global Conference on Economic Geography (GCEG), which took place end of July in Cologne. Johannes von Bloh presented a paper written together with Rolf Sternberg, Vesna Mandakovic, Mauricio Apablaza and Ernesto Amóros  entitled "Transnational entrepreneurs: opportunity driven enablers of entrepreneurial ecosystems?” It showed that Transnational Entrepreneurs differ significantly between Chile and Germany regarding their start-up motivation. Sören Scholvin presented “Gateway Cities in Global Value Chains: Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and the Oil & Gas Sector.” In the session about “Innovation in the global South”, the presentation by Timo Kleiner titled “The Impact of Awareness for Innovation on Innovation Success in Istanbul – A comparison between Local Turkish Firms and MNEs” discussed the influence of awareness for innovation on innovation success from Turkish as well as Multinational Enterprises in Istanbul. Kerstin J. Schäfer presented her paper titled “Offshore experts and global knowledge flows – active knolwedge absorption by latecomer MNEs”, which deals with the catch-up process of Huawei Technologies, in the session “Foreign Investment, Multinationals and Regional Development”.
