The CHE Ranking is the most prestigious and renowned evaluation portal for university degree programs in Germany. The subject of geography (Bachelor's degree courses only) was recently evaluated again and the 30 or so locations in Germany were ranked according to teaching, research and other criteria. In addition to data from official statistics and bibliometric sources, the ranking is based in particular on the assessments of students currently studying the subject at the respective location. The Bachelor's degree program in Hanover received ratings well above the national average for most of the 25 indicators. Hanover performs particularly well compared to the other locations in terms of the support provided by teaching staff, the career guidance on offer and the number of Phd students. Hanover's comparative strengths in direct comparison with other geography locations in Lower Saxony, such as Göttingen and Osnabrück, lie in the range of excursions on offer and the support provided by lecturers.
The detailed results of the student evaluations can be found here, while selected indicators, also beyond teaching, are presented comparatively in the recently published study guide by Die Zeit and HeyStudium. Individual comparisons between (max. 3) geography locations are possible on this platform: heystudium.de/geografie
