New Research Fellow: Carsten Rietmann

Carsten Rietmann has joined the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography in June 2020 as a new research fellow.

Carsten Rietmann has studied Geography focusing on Economic Geography (M.A.) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Geography (B.Sc.) at Leipzig University and Binghamton University (State University of New York). After this graduate studies, he worked for three years as a management consultant for a large international strategy consulting firm. For his PhD, he will conduct research on digitalization and innovation of hidden champions in Germany and on the interdependence between these firms and the regions they are embedded in. The project is part of the "Federal Program on Rural Development" which is being funded by the German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture.
